Snuggle With Chernabog

Now little Billy and little Susie can have their very own cuddly plush toy of Chernabog, their favorite demon from the 1940 Disney animated film, Fantasia.

Say what?!

Yes, this bean-filled plush was available at some point in the last decade at Walt Disney World in Florida.  This was one of my last eBay impulse buys before I decided that I was dangerously close to being on a Hoarders TV show.

It is not unusual to see Chernabog on souvenir items at the Disney Parks, as he is associated with nighttime shows like Spectromagic and Fantasmic.  This stuffed toy debuted at the end of the "beanie" craze.

Also available at this time was a bean bag toy of the hunter that shot Bambi's Mom.

Just kidding!

  1. That is an odd character to do a beanie of....but I love all the Disney Villains including Chernabog.

You had me for a minute about the beanie of the hunter from Bambi!

  2. Hey TokyoMagic! I'm guessing this did not sell very well, but at the height of the Beanie craze, I guess all characters could have been considered.

Well, maybe not the hunter from Bambi! :-)

  3. It's interesting that the Beanie craze came and went, but "The Pin Craze" still appears to be going strong. I wonder if we'll ever see that one pass.

  4. TokyoMagic!, maybe it's all in my mind, but it seems like there were fewer pin choices available on my last Walt Disney World visit. I have quite a few pins from before "The Pin Craze"---maybe eventually it will go back to that type of souvenir. It seems like Vinylmation is the big push now. And it looks like Pook-A-Looz could be next. I guess the Mickey Monsters toys did not really catch on. I have to give them credit for trying new things.

  5. Oh geez, yeah the Vinylmation thing. I DON'T GET THAT ONE!?!? I have a couple pics from my last visit to DL that I was going to post with a big "I DON'T GET IT! I'm not knocking anyone that collects them because I collect WAY too much stuff myself.....I'm not about to throw stones. I just don't get the price and the fact that you don't even know what you're getting. I used to collect bubble gum cards and yeah, you didn't know what you were getting in those packs either, but they were a whole lot more affordable and it was easier to collect an entire series.

  6. TokyoMagic!, I don't own any of the Vinylmation figures (yet!). Because of their size, and my lack of space, and the fact that you don't know what you are getting, I have not bought any of them (but I was tempted on my last trip to Walt Disney World).

Looking at the Vinylmation website, there are quite a few that I do want. There are some great EPCOT designs, and I really want the America Sings Eagle from Disneyland, Mr. Toad and the Florida Orange Bird (those two are going to be tough to find). The Black Cauldron set with Gurgi and the Horned King is cool-looking, as is the Star Wars set. The "Have A Laugh!" series is pretty neat, based on the old Mickey Mouse shorts like Lonesome Ghosts and Mickey and the Seal. The Haunted Mansion set looks great, too.

Look how many I've listed and I don't own any of these yet. Maybe someday!

  7. He looks like a scary, winged, furry mermaid of Satan.

  8. Peyton: Ha! That's supposed to be a cuddly plush rock in front of him, but I can see how hat makes him look like a mer-creature.
