Okey Dokey, Okefenokee!

Before Six Flags Over Georgia had The Monster Plantation dark ride (which opened in 1981, and is now called The Monster Mansion) the attraction was called Tales from the Okefenokee.  This was a boat trip featuring animated rabbits and bears, loosely based on the stories of Brer Rabbit.

The ride opened in 1967, but was redesigned by Sid and Marty Krofft (creators of H.R. Pufnstuf) in 1968.  The concept art for the Krofft version of the Okefenokee can be seen at The Imaginary World website.

I made this 7 inch tall version of the Okefenokee Rabbit in 2006.  He's based on the design seen in the Krofft artwork.  The figure is made out of Glow-In-The-Dark Sculpey (fitting for a dark ride character).
