Luckily, the world did not come to an end in the year 2000, because it gave the Disney Catalog the chance to release a wild Winnie the Pooh Halloween line of merchandise.
Remember that chapter in A.A. Milne's "The House at Pooh Corner" when Christopher Robin made monster versions of all his friends? I don't either, but Winnie the Pooh was very popular at the Disney Store and Catalog at this time, and the Disney merchandise folks were very clever.
Here we see Tigger as Franken-Tigger. This incredible 14" tall decoration "dances and speaks four Halloween greetings." Batteries not included---sorry!

Here's a Pooh Halloween sweatshirt with a glow-in-the-dark moon. Roo is dressed as a clown and Rabbit is either a vampire or a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type character.

"Ahh-wooo, it's scary Pooh!" Werewolf Pooh is 13" tall. This is one of the best costumes Pooh has ever had in the different lines of Halloween merchandise.
This flashlight reflects Pooh! That's good to know if you are in a neighborhood with lots of dogs.
OK, here's a candy jar. Let me guess, the candy is NOT included, right? WRONG! This features "yummy candy corn taffy inside." Woo-hoo!!
All the famous actresses in Hollywood wear the Pooh Halloween Cardigan when they go out for a night on the town.*

At the Disney Store in Walla Walla, Washington, a woman punched another lady in the face over the last Pooh Halloween Chambray Shirt. She went to prison, but she got her shirt!*

The crown jewel of this collection could be the Pooh Halloween Snowglobe. "Pooh and Piglet are inside the snowglobe, while their pals parade around the base that rotates to the tune, "Winnie the Pooh." Jack o'lanterns on the base light up and flash." It's a Halloween extravaganza in snowglobe form!
I do not own any of the merchandise in this collection, but I think this is one of the coolest Winnie the Pooh Halloween lines I've seen. Maybe one day we'll see Franken-Tigger and Werewolf Pooh again.

Funny post, Dan! Interesting merchandise too. I do like the plush of Pooh in the Werewolf costume....very well done. Some of the other stuff is a little bizarre. Reminds me of some older Disney stickers that I have around here somewhere where Donald is wearing a Mickey costume...Goofy is wearing a Minnie outfit, etc. Weird!

TokyoMagic!: Ha ha! Yes, "bizarre" is the word I'd use to describe this merchandise. The Disney Catalog and Disney Store put the Winnie the Pooh characters in many different Halloween costumes over the years (usually in tamer outfits like a bumblebee or a superhero). This particular line seemed much more unusual. Seriously, a Frankenstein version of Tigger? Crazy!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing Franken Tigger before and liked him the best out of the Halloween character lineup. But then again, Frankie is my favorite movie monster, and Tigger is my favorite Pooh character.
ReplyDeleteHey Darrin! My favorite item shown here is the dancing and talking Franken-Tigger. I never got to see this in action. It's Halloween kookiness at its finest! According to the Catalog, it retailed for $29, which is not too bad.
