Disney's Goons-Sleeping Beauty's Monsters

I saw this pin on DisneyStore.com today, and quickly bought it. This is part of a Disney High School series, and features the Goons from Sleeping Beauty as football players.

I'm not a football fan, or necessarily crazy about the 1959 film, Sleeping Beauty (I did think it was beautifully done, and Maleficent is without a doubt one of the best Disney villains ever). The Goons are just fun, and I love obscure characters.

My favorite Goon is the one on the far left (holding the football). I wonder if he has a name?

I'd love to see more of these monsters. Maybe they could be part of a line of collectible figures (like Zizzlingers or Dino Magic).

  1. I am intruiged... what is the Disney high school series?

Sleeping Beauty is one of my absolute favorites. Actually, it's tied for Robin Hood as my #1 favorite. The art is so beautiful and the characters are so well defined. I love it.

  2. Hmm.. I ALWAYS forget that limited pins are available on DisneyStore.com! That's a really cool pin. Can't wait to see what other ones are in the series!

  3. Hey Peyton! The Disney High School series is new to me, too--Disney Pin Collecting is huge, and Disney uses diverse characters for sets with different themes (like motorcycles, hot air balloons, etc.).

The High School series features characters with a 1950s flavor. DisneyStore.com has a few pins from this set on sale, including Alice, Jiminy Cricket, Mickey Mouse and the Goons.

  4. Hey Darrin! There are some great pins there, for sure! DisneyOutlet.com sometimes has them, too.
